What strategies can you use to find the information you need without wading through junk? Learn strategies and tips for planning and conducting literature searches for course projects and research publications. (For systematic review searches, please check out our systematic review seminar series!)

Before coming to class, take a few minutes to consider:

  1. Your current needs. Do you have any specific questions or concerns? Are you working on any projects or assignments that require you to locate articles? What topics and/or databases are you searching?
  2. Your experience searching: have you searched for journal articles? If so, which databases have you used: PubMed, CINAHL, others?

If you have a minute, drop the instructor a note with insights into your current projects and your comfort level with searching in various databases.
