A Moving Conversation:

Research to Address Community Health
Needs in Washington, DC

The 2018-2019 Health Equity Seminar Series culminates with a guided bus trip through Washington, DC. We’ll stop at the Town Hall Education Arts Recreation Campus (THEARC) to learn how this facility serves its community. Along the way, we’ll feature community-based research efforts, highlight different neighborhood assets, and provide context for the health inequities in Washington, DC. Finally, we’ll share reflections from the day over lunch.

This event is intended for the research communities of Children’s National and George Washington University. All colleagues who are engaged in any aspect of research are welcome.

Objectives:

1. Engage researchers and community members in a conversation about community health needs and priorities and how to best address these through research.

2. Physically demonstrate the unique, vibrant characteristics and assets of our community and the health disparities that exist.

3. Provide examples of community-engaged research and lessons learned.
